En mi primera entrada del 2019 os muestro un ensayo a la batería (drum cover) del tema "DREAMS" interpretado en directo en Londres en el año 2001 por la banda irlandesa "THE CORRS". El tema fue uno de los mayores éxitos del grupo siendo publicado en el año 1998 como single del álbum "TALK ON CORNERS". En realidad la canción es una versión del tema original escrito en el año 1976 por "STEVIE NICKS" que fue vocalista de la banda inglesa "FLEETWOOD MAC", con dicha canción que fue publicada en el año 1977 FLEETWOOD MAC consiguió llegar al número uno de la lista Billboard Hot 100 en Estados Unidos, entre otros éxitos de ventas. De hecho este grupo es reconocido en la actualidad como uno de los grupo de más éxito a nivel mundial contando con mas de 100 millones de copias vendidas a lo largo de su carrera.

 

En cuanto a THE CORRS, se trata de un grupo integrado por cuatro hermanos: Sharon, Andrea, Caroline y Jim Corr y su música podríamos decir que fundamentalmente es una mezcla entre el pop-rock y el folk irlandés, incorporando instrumentos acústicos tradicionales como la flauta irlandesa y el violín que unidos a los sintetizadores e instrumentos modernos les confiere un sonido particular. La banda ha vendido más de 50 millones de discos en total y sus influencias provienen en primer lugar de sus padres que fueron músicos y bandas clásicas como Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, The Police, Simon & Garfunkel y The Carpenters, entre otros.

Después de unos cuantos meses sin publicar en mi blog vuelvo "a la carga" con el tema "DON'T YOU (FORGET ABOUT ME)" de la banda de rock escocesa "SIMPLE MINDS". Los miembros de la banda que se mantienen desde su inicio son Jim Kerr (cantante) y Charlie Burchill (guitarrista); y Mel Gaynor (baterísta) desde el año 1982. El grupo nació en Glasgow en el año 1977 y en su trayectoria ha  vendido más de 60 millones de discos, ha ganado numerosos premios a lo largo de su carrera y ha tocado géneros como el new wave, el pop-rock, el synthpop o el post-punk siendo considerado uno de los grupos mas importantes en la década de los 80 popularizando junto a la banda irlandesa "U2" el estilo "Anthemic Rock" (Rock épico o de himnos) con un sonido elegante y de vanguardia que a día de hoy sirve de influencia a grupos de música electrónica y alternativa de la actualidad como Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, Moby, Primal Scream y Manic Street Preachers, entre otros. 

En el año 2014 la Revista New Musical Express colocó a SIMPLE MINDS entre los 100 artistas más influyentes de la música y en 2015 el grupo fue homenajeado en los premios Billboard de la Música por los 30 años del número 1 de su canción DON'T YOU (FORGET ABOUT ME), que traducida sería algo así como "No te olvides de mi". La canción fue publicada en el año 1985, vendió 6,5 millones de copias y ha sido considerada por numerosos críticos musicales como la canción más representativa de la década de los 80, estando incluida en la lista de los 100 singles más vendidos de la historia de la música. La canción fue un éxito a nivel mundial y catapultó al grupo a la cima del éxito, por ejemplo en el Reino Unido permaneció en las listas durante tres años, siendo el single de mayor permanencia en la historia.

El tema fue escrito por Keit Forsey (productor y ganador de un Oscar por "Flashdance...What a Feeling con Irene Cara) y Steve Schiff (guitarrista de Nina Hagen) para formar parte de la banda sonora de la película de John Hughes "The Breakfast Club" (El club de los cinco). Curisosamente la canción fue ofrecida para grabar en principio a Bryan Ferry, a Billy Idol y a Cy Curnin de The Fixx pero los tres la rechazaron, entonces se ofreció a SIMPLE MINDS quienes la grabaron convirtiéndose después en la canción más famosa del grupo. El vídeo musical fue dirigido por Daniel Kleinman y fue nominado en los MTV Video Music Awards 1985 a los premios a "Mejor dirección artística" y "Mejor dirección".

El tema ha sido versioneado por muchos músicos de diversos estilos como Billy Idol, Smash Mouth, Molly Ringwald, David Cook, The Wind and the Wave, Victoria Justice, KT Tunstall, Rufio, Stella Starlight Trío y New Found Glory,  entre otros, realizandose covers también en varias películas como "Pith Perfect" y series norteamericanas como "Glee".

18.- Vamos con el acompañamiento a la batería de la canción "sprock" "LEFT OUTSIDE ALONE" de la cantante norteamericana  conocida artísticamente como "ANASTACIA". 

Anastacia Lyn Newkirk nación en Chicago, Illinois el 17/9/68, su padre era cantante en clubs nocturnos y su madre bailarina en Broadway. Su padre sufría un transtorno bipolar y la abandonó siendo pequeña, criándose con su madre y sus hermanos. En el año 1998 se presentó a un concurso musical televisivo en Estados Unidos y pesé a que no lo ganó la catapultó hacia la fama. El propio Michael Jackson cuando la vio la llamó para felicitarla, animarla a que siguiera en el mundo de la música y le propuso que fichara por su sello discográfico en Sony. Al año siguiente debutó discográficamente con el álbum "Not That Kind" y no se equivocó Michael pues a día de hoy la artista ha conseguido vender más de 40 millones de discos en todo el mundo.

Anastacia posee una voz profunda, muy personal y se caracteriza por disponer de un timbre de voz nasal rasgado o roto con un amplio registro vocal y mucha fuerza. Se le ha comparado con la voz de Tina Turner, una voz muy estilo soul con influencias funk, rock y blues. De hecho se le conoce como "The Blonde Black" (la rubia con voz de negra). La propia cantante registró en el año 2004 su propio estilo musical como "SPROCK", es decir una mezcla entre Soul, Pop y Rock, por eso se le conoce como la "Reina del Sprock".

La canción "Left outside alone" fue escrita por Anastacia junto a Dallas Austin y Glenn Ballard; y cuenta la difícil relación de la cantante con su padre. El tema fue incluido en el tercer álbum de estudio de la artista con su mismo nombre "ANASTACIA", publicado en el año 2004 y también se publicó como disco sencillo, siendo un gran éxito tanto crítico como comercial, llegando a vender mas de 21 millones de copias en todo el mundo y alcanzando el primer puesto en Estados Unidos, Australia y en varios paises europeos como España, Italia, Austria y Suiza;  el segundo en Alemania, Dinamarca, Holanda y Noruega; y el tercero en Reino Unido y Hungría, entre otros. Además en los EEUU alcanzó el primer puesto en la "Hot Dance Single Sales" de las listas de baile.
