"TUTORIAL PARA COLOCAR ARO DE SORDINA DE GOMA ESPUMA PARA EL BOMBO DE LA BATERIA"

Hoy voy a mostrar un sencillo “tutorial” montado con fotografías
dedicado a buscar el mejor sonido del bombo de nuestra batería, eso
sí, “para gustos los colores”, así que esta es una opción muy
particular. Hay bateristas que colocan pedazos de goma espuma,
cojines, almohadones, toallas, etc. con el fin de apagar un poco el
sonido grave del bombo en vez de dejar el bombo vacío que a veces
nos deja un sonido con “cola” al golpearlo. Yo en concreto busco
un sonido del bombo mas “asordinado” para quitarle rebotes y
apagar un poco el sonido, ya que la batería está utilizándose en
estudio y sala de ensayo cerrada.
Para
ello he utilizado un colchón de goma espuma, como es demasiado
ancho, lo cortamos por el centro de arriba a abajo con una cuchilla
tipo cutter ya que con la mitad del colchón me sobra.
Ahora marcamos con un rotulador por el centro del borde/perfil del colchón y lo cortamos también ya que sino sería demasiado grueso.
Desmontamos solamente el parche resonante del bombo y una vez cortada la pieza de goma espuma la colocamos como un aro en el interior del bombo (dejando la cara “fea” con las marcas de los cortes pegadas al interior para que no se vea). El aro de goma espuma debe quedar pegado al parche golpeador para potenciar el efecto de sordina. Como no llega a cubrir todo el bombo, le añadimos lo que falta cortándolo del trozo de colchón que nos sobró antes al cortarlo. Lo ajustamos para que quede colocado de forma que el mismo quede sujeto por su propia presión alrededor del aro interno del bombo.
Marcamos dos puntos donde entran los tubos/brazos que sujetan los toms (tambores) y le hacemos dos agujeros a la goma espuma.
Después montamos el parche redoblante (frontal), afinamos el bombo y a disfrutar tocando nuestra batería.

There are drummers who put pieces of foam rubber, cushions, pillows, towels, etc. in order to turn off the bass drum sound a bit instead of leaving the bass drum empty that sometimes leaves us with a “tail” sound when hitting it. I specifically am looking for a more “muffled” kick drum sound to remove rebounding and turn off the sound a bit, since the drums are being used in the studio and closed rehearsal room.
For this I have used a foam rubber mattress, as it is too wide, we cut it in the center from top to bottom with a cutter-type blade since I have half the mattress left over.
Now we mark with a marker in the center of the edge / profile of the mattress and cut it too, otherwise it would be too thick.
We only disassemble the resonant head of the bass drum and once the piece of foam rubber is cut we place it as a ring inside the bass drum (leaving the “ugly” side with the cut marks stuck to the inside so that it cannot be seen). The foam rubber ring should be glued to the pickguard to enhance the mute effect. As it does not cover the entire drum, we add what is missing by cutting it from the piece of mattress that we had left before when we cut it. We adjust it so that it is positioned so that it is held by its own pressure around the inner ring of the bass drum.
We mark two points where the tubes / arms that hold the toms (drums) enter and we make two holes in the foam rubber.
Now we place the foam rubber piece in its place and we pass the tubes through the holes.
Then we assemble the drum head (front), tune the kick drum and enjoy playing our drums.
