Hoy rescato una
canción del año 1984 (para acompañarla a la batería y a la voz) de la banda
británica "IMMACULATE FOOLS" con una de (para mi gusto) sus
mejores composiciones musicales, la canción que lleva el mismo nombre que el
grupo "IMMACULATE FOOLS" (que traducido sería algo así como
"locos/tontos inmaculados").
La banda se formó en
Kent (Reino Unido) en el año 1984 en principio por los hermanos Weatherill
(Kevin; Voz y guitarra) y (Paul; Voz y bajo); y los también hermanos Ross
(Andy; Guitarra) y (Peter; Batería). La canción elegida para la cover de hoy
"Immaculate fools" llegó a alcanzar el número 51 de la lista de singles
en el Reino Unido, así como su primer álbum lanzado al mercado en el año 1985
"Hearts of Fortune" llegó hasta el puesto 65. En el año 1987
publicaron "Dumb Poet" consiguió buenas críticas pero no llegó
al éxito del primer álbum. Ya para la grabación del siguiente disco
"Another Man's World" en el año 1990 los hermanos Ross abandonaron el
grupo y se incorporaron Barry Wickens, Paul Skidmore e Ian Devlin. En 1992
sacaron "The Toy Shop", en 1995 entraron Wickens Brian Beetts (Guitarra)
y Nick Thomas (Batería) para grabar "Woodhouse" y en 1996 "Kiss
and Punch". En el año 1997 la banda finalizó su andadura musical hasta que
en el año 2015 con Kevin Weatherill como líder (Voz y guitarra) con otros
componentes volvieron a grabar el disco "Turn the whole world down" y
en 2016 "Keep the blade sharp" con Laura Solla (Guitarra), Linda Lamb
(Voz), Helena Watt (Violín), Alex Salgueiro (Bajo) y Naíma Acuña (Batería).
Actualmente el grupo
sigue en activo con Kevin Weatherill como líder y compositor del mismo, también
Kevin realiza trabajos en solitario con el nombre de Dirty Ray.

Today I rescue a song
from 1984 (to accompany it on drums and voice) by the British band
"IMMACULATE FOOLS" with one of (for my taste) their best musical

The band was formed in

Hoy realizo mi versión "libre" a la batería de la
canción "AVIONES PLATEADOS" de un
grupo nacional que creo que no necesita demasiadas presentaciones pues su
sonido es inconfundible "EL ÚLTIMO DE LA FILA", grupo caracterizado por conseguir un sonido propio
muy particular mezclando sonidos POP-ROCK con influencias melódicas del FLAMENCO
sobre todo en la voz de Manolo e incorporando incluso sonidos y arreglos ÁRABES
a sus composiciones musicales.
El grupo se formó en Barcelona en el año 1984 por Manuel
García García-Pérez, más conocido como MANOLO GARCÍA (Voz) y Joaquim Portet Serdà, conocido como QUIMI
PORTET (Guitarra) y finalizó su andadura en el
año 1998 cuando ámbos continuaron sus carreras por separado. Como ya conté en
la entrada de mi blog dedicada a su canción "INSURRECCIÓN"ambos se conocieron en el Festival Rock de Lluna en el año
1981, festival al que asistieron los dos como grupos invitados (Manolo iba con
"LOS RÁPIDOS" y Quimi con "KUL DE MANDRIL". LOS RÁPIDOS
incorporaron a Quimi con su guitarra y mas tarde él y Manolo formaron el grupo
"LOS BURROS" y después "EL ÚLTIMO DE LA FILA", banda que
comenzó ganando el concurso de maquetas de la revista Rock Spezial tocando
los temas "CUANDO LA POBREZA ENTRA POR LA PUERTA, EL AMOR SALTA POR LA
VENTANA" y "A CUALQUIERA PUEDE SUCEDERLE". A partir de ahí
consiguió gran éxito en España durante las décadas de los 80 y 90, llegando a
grabar siete álbumes (aparte de álbumes recopilatorios, singles y maxisingles)
y realizando numerosas giras tanto por España como por América. Como curiosidad
decir que según los propios músicos, el nombre de "EL ÚLTIMO DE LA
FILA" lo sacaron de la letra de una canción de un grupo australiano.
Destacamos su discografía principal (Álbumes): Cuando la pobreza entra por la
puerta, el amor salta por la ventana (1985), Enemigos de lo ajeno (1986),
Nuevas mezclas (1987), Como la cabeza al sombrero (1988), Nuevo pequeño
catálogo de seres y estares (1990), Astronomía razonables (1993) y La rebelión
de los hombres rana (1995).
La canción "AVIONES PLATEADOS" (En la que su letra nos cuenta una
historia sobre los celos y el arrepentimiento de alguien que quedó solo por
haber perdido lo que más amaba), fue incluida en su segundo álbum de estudio
grabado en Barcelona en el año 1986 "ENEMIGOS DE LO AJENO", disco que fue reeditado y remezclado en el año
1991. Dicho álbum contiene muy buenas canciones, yo diría que es un disco
imprescindible para todos los que nos gustan las canciones bien hechas, de
hecho fue nombrado "Disco del año" por la revista
"Rockdelux", ha sido considerado como el "Mejor disco de la
historia del rock español" por la revista "Rolling Stone" en el
año 2009 y ha sido posicionado en la posición 79 en la lista de los 250 álbumes
esenciales del rock iberoamericano de la revista estadounidense "Al
Borde". De dicho álbum se lanzaron como discos sencillos "AVIONES
PLATEADOS", "INSURRECCIÓN" y "LAS PALABRAS SON
CANSANCIO" en el año 1986.
En cuanto a la versión de "AVIONES PLATEADOS" que he escogido para
hacer el ensayo de hoy no es la original, lo siento, escuché una versión
grabada en estudio del año 2015 diferente y me gustó bastante así que me
dije pues por que no hacer una cover siguiendo los patrones básicos pero a mi
aire de esta versión, la original es muy buena pero también quizá demasiado
conocida así que ahí va el experimento, espero que os guste.

cover - Ensayo a la batería de la canción "ALWAYS THE SUN" de la banda británica "THE
STRANGLERS" (Los estranguladores). He escogido
esta canción por varios motivos: Para dedicarle mi humilde homenaje a esta
banda que creó buenas canciones, en recuerdo a Dave Greenfiel (Teclista) de la
banda que falleció por coronavirus el pasado día 3 de mayo (D.E.P.) y a todas
las personas fallecidas recientemente por ésta y otras enfermedades, por el
título de la canción (que se traduciría en algo así como "Siempre el
sol" como motivo de esperanza para tod@s los que en estos
momentos están sufriendo las consecuencias de la situación actual) y porque
sencillamente es una canción que me gusta.
THE STRANGLERS se formó en el año 1974 (en un principio con el nombre de
"THE GUILDFORD STRANGLERS") y en Inglaterra fue en su momento una de
las bandas impulsoras del fenómeno PUNK-ROCK aunque quizás mucho más en las
formas y en sus letras que en su propio sonido que sobre todo en los años
80 fue evolucionando hacia sonidos mas tranquilos y refinados dentro de
estilos como el NEW WAVE o el POP-ROCK con el que consiguieron un notable éxito
comercial, de hecho en Gran Bretaña metieron a lo largo de su carrera 17
álbumes y 23 discos sencillos en las listas del Top 40. El grupo grabó en
el año 1977 su primer single "GET A GRIP IN YOUR SELF" con el que
llegaron al número 4 en las listas británicas y en el mismo año sus dos
primeros álbumes y a partir de ahí comenzaron a cosechar éxitos.
Su discografía principal es la siguiente: Rattus Norvegicus y No more heroes
(1977); Black and white (1979), The gospel according to the Meninblack y La
Folie (1981); Feline (1983), Aural Sculpture (1984); Dreamtime (1986); 10
(1990); Stranglers in the night (1992); About time (1995); Written in Red (1997);

THE SUN" fue lanzada al mercado primero como
disco sencillo en octubre de 1986 llegando al número 30 en la lista de singles
del Reino Unido, al 16 en Irlanda, al 15 en Francia y al 21 en Australia entre
otros; a su vez aparece en el álbum "Dreamtime" y en diciembre de
1990 sacaron otra versión remezclada como single. El sonido de la canción
podríamos etiquetarlo como NEW WAVE con voces muy suaves con estribillo muy
pegadizo, arreglos muy melódicos de teclados y guitarras acompañados por una
base rítmica tranquila que comienza muy abajo aumentando su intensidad
especialmente en los estribillos.

song for several reasons: To dedicate my humble tribute to this band that
created good songs, in memory of Dave Greenfiel (Keyboardist) of the band that
died of coronavirus on May 3 (DEP) and all the deceased recently for this and

Aprovechando
el vídeo musical que grabamos días atrás tocando cada uno desde su casa debido
al confinamiento con mis amigos Dámaso Pérez (Guitarra y bajo) y Llanos Olivas
(Voz) del tema "AFTER DARK" de TITO & TARÁNTULA, (vídeo que os dejo publicado en esta entrada también), he
grabado un vídeo con un ensayo/cover a la batería exclusivamente de dicha
canción también y una breve explicación de la canción, sus autores y su
historia.
TITO & TARANTULA en un grupo mexicano/estadounidense de Rock Sureño, el
grupo se formó en el año 1995 en Hollywood (California) por el mexicano
Tito Larriva aunque en desde el año 1992 ya comenzó su andadura con el nombre
de "TITO & FRIENDS" tocando jam sessions en clubs y cafés de Los
Ángeles.
En cuanto a la canción AFTER DARK ha sido muy conocida a nivel mundial
especialmente por su aparición en la película en el año 1996 de terror, acción
y vampiros dirigida por Robert Rodríguez y escrita por Quentin Tarantino "ABIERTO
HASTA EL AMANECER" ("From dusk till dawn").
Mencionar también que Tito ya había colaborado anteriormente con Robert
Rodríguez en la película "DESPERADO". En la película ABIERTO
HASTA EL AMANECER la banda está tocando en un club nocturno y en dicha canción
aparece bailando la actriz mexicana y protagonista femenina Salma
Hayeck con una serpiente realizando una danza
muy sexy y exótica frente a un público entregado entre el que se encuentra el
actor George Cloney (También tenéis el vídeo mas abajo, no os lo perdáis).
Dicha canción mas tarde también se convirtió en la canción principal de la
banda sonora de la serie "From dusk till dawn". En la película
ABIERTO HASTA EL AMANECER demás de esta canción destacaría el tema "ANGRY
COCKROACHES" ("Cucarachas enojadas"), una canción muy cañera y
particular que identifica mucho el sonido de la banda influenciado
principalmente por el Rock Sureño, así como con toques de Hard Rock/Rock Duro y
con toques de Blues, dicha canción también apareció en el año 2007 en el
trailer de la película "Fred Claus". Muchos de sus temas, sobre todo
en directo tienen un inicio ritmicamente lento con un sonido oscuro,
atmosférico y misterioso con sus guitarras y terminan aumentando su intensidad
al final tanto vocal con instrumentalmente.
Destacar los siguientes álbumes publicados de la banda: Tarantism (1997),
Hungry Sally & Other killer lullabies (1999), Little bitch (2000),
Andalucía (2002), Back into the darkness (2008), Lost Tarantism (2015) y 8 Arms
to hold you (2019).
La banda actualmente está integrada por Tito Larriva (Voz y guitarra rítmica),
Jeff Herring (Guitarra solista y coros, desde 2011), Víctor Ziolkowki (Batería
desde 2011) y Lolita Carroll (Bajo y coros, desde 2013).

Taking
advantage of the music video that we recorded days ago playing each one from

TITO
& TARANTULA in a Mexican / American Sureño Rock group, the group was formed
in 1995 in Hollywood (California) by the Mexican Tito Larriva although in 1992
it already began its journey with the name "TITO & FRIENDS"
playing jam sessions in clubs and cafes in Los Angeles.
As
for the song AFTER DARK, it has been well known worldwide especially for its
appearance in the 1996 horror, action and vampire film directed by Robert
Rodríguez and written by Quentin Tarantino "OPEN UNTIL DAWN"
("From dusk till dawn "). Also mention that Tito had previously
collaborated with Robert Rodríguez in the movie "DESPERADO". In the
film OPEN UNTIL DAWN, the band is playing in a nightclub and in that song the

the year 2007 in the trailer of the film "Fred Claus". Many of his
songs, especially live, have a rhythmically slow beginning with a dark,
atmospheric and mysterious sound with his guitars and end up increasing their
intensity at the end both vocally and instrumentally.

The
band is currently made up of Tito Larriva (Voice and rhythm guitar), Jeff
Herring (Lead guitar and backing vocals, since 2011), Víctor Ziolkowki (Drums
since 2011) and Lolita Carroll (Bass and backing vocals, since 2013).
