Vamos hoy con una cover a la batería de la canción "CLAVADO EN UN BAR" de la genial banda mexicana "MANÁ", se trata del segundo sencillo y sexto tema del álbum "SUEÑOS LIQUIDOS", la canción fue grabada en 1996 y publicada en 1997 llegando a alcanzar el número 12 de la lista U.S. Billboard Hot Latin Tracks.

El origen de Maná se remonta al grupo llamado "SOMBRERO VERDE" formado en Guadalajara (Jalisco) Mexico en el año 1978 por Fher Olvera (Voz), Gustavo Orozco (Guitarra) y los hermanos Calleros (Juan Diego al bajo, Ulises a la guitarra y Abraham a la batería) y es en el año 1986 cuando se forma el grupo Maná tambien en Guadalajara. En la actualidad está integrada por Fher Olvera (Voz, armónica y guitarra rítmica y autor de la canción elegida), Sergio Vallín (Guitarra y coros), Juan Calleros (Bajo) y Alex González (Batería y coros).

La discografía de MANÁ está integrada por 8 álbumes de estudio, 6 recopilatorios, 3 en directo, 54 sencillos y 37 vídeos musicales, habiendo vendido más de 40 millones de discos en total. La banda ha conseguido ganar a lo largo de su carrera 24 Premios Billboard de la Música Latina, 4 premios Grammy, 8 premios Grammy latinos, 5 MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica entre otras muchas distinciones además de obtener un reconocimiento por su implicación en la defensa del medio ambiente.

Las letras de sus canciones son en español y en cuanto a su sonido, el grupo ha conseguido fusionar varias tendencias y estilos musicales, fundamentalmente Rock, Pop, Reggae y Ritmos Latinos consiguiendo un sonido propio y con identidad.

Hoy hago una cover a la batería de la canción "WALKING BY MYSELF" versioneada por GARY MOORE, ya que el tema original fue compuesto por James A. Lane, músico estadounidense conocido artísticamente como JIMMY ROGERS (1924 Ruleville. Misisipi - 1997 Chicago). JIMMY ROGERS fue cantante y guitarrista y está considerado como uno de los músicos precursores del blues de Chicago sobre todo entre las décadas de 1950 y 1960.

Robert William GARY MOORE nació en la ciudad de Belfast (Irlanda del Norte)  el 4/4/1952 y falleció el 6/2/2011. Fue un guitarrista extraordinario además de vocalista, compositor y productor. Comenzó su carrera musical en 1968 con la banda "SKID ROW" donde coincidió con "PHIL LYNOTT" (Líder de "THIN LIZZY"). A finales de la década de los años 70 publicó varios discos como solista con influencias de sonidos como el blues, rock, blues rock y el hard rock. En los años 90 se centró en un sonido mas blues rock recibiendo influencias de otros sonidos mas rockeros, de heavy metal e incluso de la música celta. Como guitarrista, algunas de sus principales influencias provienen de músicos como Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green, B.B. King, Eric Clapton o Jimmy Page, entre otros. GARY MOORE ha publicado a lo largo de su carrera de mas de 40 años 18 discos de estudio y además ha trabajado también la grabación de guitarras para otros músicos como John Mayall, Mick Jagger, Cozy Powell, entre otros.

En cuanto a la canción elegida para hoy "WALKING BY MYSELF" fue incluida en el noveno álbum de estudio de GARY MOORE, "STILL GOT THE BLUES" publicado en 1990. Dicho álbum incluye temas como  "STILL GOT THE BLUES (FOR YOU)", "TOO TIRED" o "TEXAS STRUT" y tuvo un gran éxito de ventas, alcanzando el puesto 83 en los Billboard 200 en EEUU, vendiendo allí mas de medio millón de copias y más de 300.000 copias en el Reino Unido. En concreto la canción WALKING BY MYSELF y TOO TIRED entraron en el "Top 100" de la lista "Singles Chart" del Reino Unido.

Comienzo el año 2021 con una cover a la batería del tema "SCENE OF THE CRIME" de la banda británica "PLACEBO". El grupo de rock alternativo se formó en el año 1994 primero con el nombre de "ASHTRAY HEART" en Londres por Brian Molko (Voz, guitarra, bajo, teclados, percusión, saxofón y armónica) y  Stefan Olsdal (Guitarra, bajo, teclados y coros); y actualmente colaboran Matt Lunn (Batería),  Bill Lloyd (Guitarra, bajo y teclados), Nick Gavrilovic (Guitarra, teclados  y coros) y Angela Chan (Teclados, violín, percusión y coros).

El sonido de la banda podríamos definirlo como Rock Alternativo, incorporando sonidos de estilos como el Rock Gótico, New Wave o el Post-Punk fundamentalmente, recibiendo influencias de bandas como The Stooges, Pixies, David Bowie o Iggy Pop; y  de los primeros grupos influyentes de sonido Post-Punk como The Cure, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, U2 en sus primeros años, New Order, Depeche Mode o Siouxie and the Banshees, entre otros.

MARIPOSAS (Enanitos Verdes)

Para despedir el año 2020 voy con esta cover a la batería y voz de la canción "MARIPOSAS" de la banda argentina "ENANITOS VERDES", aunque para la ocasión he escogido una versión en directo del año 2018 en la que van de la mano con "HOMBRES G" sobre el escenario, en la gira en la que fueron juntas ambas bandas, así aprovecho para dar una pincelada de la historia de ambos grupos. ¡Feliz 2021 a tod@s!

"ENANITOS VERDES" es considerado uno de los grupos mas importantes de rock argentino. Comenzaron en 1979 siendo sus miembros originales Marciano Cantero (Voz, bajo y teclados), Felipe Staiti (Guitarra y coros) y Daniel Piccolo (Batería). A primeros de los '80 tocaban en clubs  de Mendoza, en 1984 se incorpora a la banda Sergio Embroni (Guitarra y voz) y graban su primer álbum llamado "Los enanitos verdes". En 1985 Embroni deja el grupo y se incorpora Tito Dávila (Voz y teclados). En 1986 publican "Contrareloj" con la producción de Andrés Calamaro y han seguido publicando un total de 14 álbumes de estudio y 4 en directo. En la actualidad siguen Marciano Cantero, Felipe Staiti, Juan Pablo Staiti (Guitarra y coros; 2008-15) y Jota Morelli (Batería desde 2011).

En cuanto a los "HOMBRES G" es un grupo de pop-rock español que comenzó su andadura a principio de los años 80 también. En 1982 con el nombre de "LOS BONITOS REDFORD"  y ya en 1983 con el nombre que les llevó al éxito "HOMBRES G" con temas pop sencillos y desenfadados tan conocidos como "Venezia", "Marta tiene un marcapasos" y "(La cagaste) Burt Lancaster", entre otros. Los miembros de la banda son David Summers (Voz y bajo), Dani Mezquita (Guitarra y teclados), Rafa Gutierrez (Guitarra) y Javier Molina (Batería). A lo largo de su dilatada carrera han publicado hasta la fecha un total de 12 álbumes.

En cuanto a la canción elegida para hoy "MARIPOSAS", se trata de una canción de amor, con tan solo leer el estribillo ya queda resumida su intención: "Si te vas no tengo nada, si te quedas puedo hasta el mundo cambiar o quizás no habré crecido, dejando mariposas escapar" pero interpretada con estilo y ritmos pop-rock enseguida te engancha, mejor la escuchas y opinas, muchas gracias.

Bueno pues ésta es ya la entrada número 50 de mi blog, cifra redonda, cuando empecé nunca pensé llegar a tantas y que me fuera a dar tanto trabajo, jajaja, es broma, este blog lo hago por gusto así que mientras pueda seguir disfrutando tocando la batería y subiendo canciones, seguiré publicando. He escogido para la ocasión la canción “DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT (IT’S CAUGHT ME IN IT’S SPOTLIGHT)” de la banda irlandesa “THIN LIZZY”, es una canción que me gusta y que toco con mis compañer@s del grupo “SMOKE SELLERS BAND”. La canción formó parte de “BAD REPUTATION”, octavo álbum de estudio de la banda, grabado en Toronto (Canadá), lanzado al mercado en el año 1977 y que posteriormente se vendió como disco sencillo llegando al puesto número 14 en ventas en el Reino Unido ese mismo año.

THIN LIZZY se formó en 1969 en Dublín siendo los miembros fundadores Phil Lynott (Voz y bajo) y Brian Downey (Batería) pero por la banda han pasado bastantes músicos a lo largo de su trayectoria, entre ellos destacar al excepcional guitarrista Gary Moore. Lynott fue realmente el líder de la banda y el compositor de la mayoría de los temas además de ser el primer irlandés de color en conseguir un gran éxito en el mundo musical, la desgracia es que falleció en el año 1986 con tan solo 36 años. En cuanto a su sonido, el grupo podríamos etiquetarlo como banda de HARD ROCK, aunque recibe influencias del ROCK PSICODÉLICO, del SOUL, del POP, del BLUES e incluso de la música CELTA IRLANDESA; y de músicos como Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Bob Seger y Jeff Beck, entre otros.

Los músicos que participaron en la grabación del álbum BAD REPUTATION fueron: Phil Lynott (Voz, bajo y armónica); Brian Downey (Batería); Scott Grham (Guitarra), Brian Robertson (Guitarra y teclados), John Helliwell (Saxofón y clarinete); y Mary Hopkin-Visconti (Coros).

I have chosen for the occasion the song "DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT (IT'S CAUGHT ME IN IT'S SPOTLIGHT)" by the Irish band "THIN LIZZY", it is a song that I like and that I play with my colleagues from the group "SMOKE SELLERS BAND ”. The song was part of “BAD REPUTATION”, the band's eighth studio album, recorded in Toronto (Canada), released in 1977 and later sold as a single album, reaching number 14 in sales in the United Kingdom. Joined that same year.

 THIN LIZZY was formed in 1969 in Dublin with the founding members Phil Lynott (Voice and Bass) and Brian Downey (Drums), but many musicians have passed through the band throughout its trajectory, among them the exceptional guitarist Gary Moore. Lynott was really the leader of the band and the composer of most of the songs, besides being the first Irishman of color to achieve great success in the musical world, the misfortune is that he passed away in 1986 with only 36 years .
